Darren and I are humbled and honored to announce that we are now heading the New Hampshire Chapter of Farmers & Hunters Feeding the Hungry.
FHFH is a wonderful organization that relies on the compassion and generosity of Sportsman who donate Game to feed the hungry in their Communities. Hunters who have it put on their heart can contact us to come transport their donated Game animal to LeMay & Sons in Goffstown, NH. LeMay’s generously processes the animal free of charge and transports it to Food Pantries and Soup Kitchens all around the Granite State.
Did you know that one Deer, processed into burger can be prepared in a Soup Kitchen to feed 200 hungry people? Rick Wilson, FHFH Founder, told me a story several years back, about when he was volunteering in a Soup Kitchen where FHFH donated venison, that had been incorporated into spaghetti sauce was being served. He asked a little girl who was devouring her meal how she liked it. The little girl told him that it was better than McDonald’s. Rick then inquired, since he knew the girl’s family could not afford to eat at McDonald’s, how she ate there so much. Rick’s heart broke when the girl told him that the McDonald’s food he ate came from the dumpster behind the restaurant.
Rick began FHFH back in 1997 when he was on his way to meet his Hunting Buddies for a BBQ. He spotted a woman pulled over on the side of the road with her trunk open. Rick, who was running late, felt compelled somehow to pull over and ask if she was broken down. The woman said she was not broken down but could use his assistance in loading a road kill Buck into her trunk so that she could provide food for her hungry children since her husband abandoned them. That encounter broke Rick’s heart and he felt the calling on his heart to begin a Ministry of Farmers and Hunters providing Game meat to feed the Hungry.
Darren and I are honored to pick up that torch here in NH. To donate Game please contact us here at Getcha Boots On! Outdoor Adventures or through our emails, FishinEsthetician@yahoo.com or Dfinch@NorthBranch.net.
